Engineer I/II/III
About the role
Responsible for providing engineering and project management for sanitary sewer, stormwater, facilities, roadway and other Capital Improvements projects. Oversees, reviews, and inspects the work of contractors and consultant engineers to ensure adherence to bid specification and plans. Serves as a project coordinator, and ensures that engineering plans and calculations meet required standards. Provides engineering support by creating engineered design drawings using AutoCAD (Computer Aided Drafting), specifications and schedules. Work also involves approving consultants' and contractors' payment invoices ensuring that work completed is proportional to the amount of payment requested. Responsible for performing field inspections and surveys, and preparing a variety of (technical) reports, cost estimates, and correspondence.
Responsibilities

- Approves consultants' and contractors' payment invoices ensuring that work completed is proportional to the amount of payment requested.
- Performs field inspections and surveys, and prepares a variety of (technical) reports, cost estimates, and correspondence.
- Reviews a variety of submitted plans, drawings and proposals, and assist with citizen requests and plan reviews as needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) program in an approved engineering or engineering technology degree is required.
- Must obtain the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Reviewer and Stormwater Management Plan Reviewer certification within 12 months of hire.
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an ABET program in an approved engineering or engineering technology degree.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant industry experience and pass the FE exam to be considered for Engineer II.
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant industry experience and be registered as a valid PE in any of the 50 United States to be considered for Engineer III.
Skills
- Ability to serve as the technical expert on construction projects, and to make necessary field changes as required.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering concepts and principles, with a focus on sanitary sewer, water systems, and stormwater construction and design.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to building construction is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of construction management principles and practices, including planning and design principles.
- General understanding of project management and the capacity to prioritize and delegate work effectively.
- Familiarity with local government, land use regulations, and urban planning.

$79,669.00 - $92,229.00 Annually
