About the role

Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County, Florida. The Engineering Division manages the Capital Improvement Program for water, wastewater, reclaimed water, commercial and solid waste projects. The division also reviews the plans and agreements of proposed infrastructure by the development community to conform to the Orange County Utilities Standards and Construction Specifications Manual.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine engineering assignments. This is an entry-level classification performing professional engineering work.
  • Provides supervision over one or more major engineering activities.
  • Reviews developer submitted Utilities projects related to water and reclaimed water distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and transmission/transportation systems.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • One (1) year of utilities engineering related experience for Engineer I.
  • Four (4) years of utilities engineering related experience for Engineer III.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license from the Florida State Board of Professional Engineers or ability to obtain it within (6) six months from date of hire.
  • Valid Florida Drivers License.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ESRI and other database systems.

Skills

  • Wastewater collection and transmission system design and hydraulic modeling experience.
  • Water and reclaimed water distribution system design and hydraulic modeling experience.
  • Experience as a Project Engineer and/or Project Manager in the design of water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure.

Pay

  • Pay Grade: 016 - From $26.94 to $35.03
  • Pay Grade: 018 - From $31.30 to $40.70
  • Pay Grade: 021 - From $39.21 to $50.97

Schedule

Monday - Friday / with flexible hours between the hours of 7:00am - 6:00pm
