About the role

DLB Associates is a premier engineering and consulting firm specializing in innovative, mission-critical solutions across hyperscale data centers, advanced infrastructure, and high-performance building systems. As an Engineer I, you’ll collaborate with senior design staff to advance your design skills for commercial building design and construction. This remote role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, including state-of-the-art hyperscale data centers, while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, tech-forward environment.

Engineers in this role may choose to pursue a project management–focused career track, gain exposure across Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing/Fire Protection (MEP) disciplines, or progress toward deeper specialization in areas such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Power Systems Studies, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), or other mission-critical engineering specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Production of Engineering Documents (50%)
    • Perform basic engineering work and design tasks under a senior engineer’s supervision
    • Perform standard computations, analysis, load calculations, equipment selection, and pressure drop calculations
    • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings and visual aids
    • Assist in the review and creation of drawing details, schedules, sequence of operations, and drawing content as directed
  • Assist in Pre-Construction Activities (15%)
    • Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings
    • Collect data and other information for construction documents
    • Prepare project design and construction documents
    • Basic review and editing of project specifications
    • Basic review of long lead equipment and impact on design conditions
  • Assist in Construction Activities (15%)
    • Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team
    • Assist with construction administration tracking (submittals, RFIs, etc.)
    • Review shop drawings and submittals
    • Review and respond to RFIs
    • Assist with punch lists and project closeout documents
  • Reporting (10%)
    • Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
    • Provide status updates on work products
  • Technology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency (10%)
    • Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset
    • Adapt to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows
  • Project Management Track (if applicable)
    • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day coordination of routine project tasks and deliverables
    • Track action items, schedules, and milestones under guidance
    • Maintain organized project files and documentation
    • Support coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders
    • Organize and assist in QA/QC and compilation of work products for external distribution
  • Completion of assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and code/specifications for design and engineering
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and strong organizational skills for file management
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows and optimize processes
  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment with effective communication, self-motivation, and resourcefulness
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (technical and non-technical information)
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Training

DLB’s Design Team hosts a week-long, in-person onboarding and training program for new hires at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey. This immersive experience is designed to help you build connections, gain hands-on exposure to tools and standards, and develop a strong understanding of your role. Attendance and active participation are required, and all reasonable travel expenses will be covered by DLB.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel, which may include any or all 50 U.S. states
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination
  • Effective May 7, 2025, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for domestic air travel

Pay

The pay range for this role is $80,000 – $85,000 USD per year (Remote, United States).
