About the role

The Applied Technology Services (ATS) Engineering staff provides engineering, testing, and analysis services and expertise across multiple subject areas to various company organizations. The team identifies, diagnoses, and addresses technical problems, offering consultation to proactively avoid future issues by specifying industry-standard equipment, materials, and methods. Services include technology demonstrations, energy efficiency codes & standards advocacy, appliance performance testing and analysis, customer electrification & decarbonization evaluation, and grid edge smart load interoperability testing. The role maintains knowledge of and implements all company and regulatory safety and quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with peers to prepare technical reports and specifications, and to identify, define, and solve problems.
  • Identifies and escalates testing or process improvements.
  • Participates in identifying innovations and cost-reduction potential of new and existing technologies.
  • Independently performs routine engineering analysis and takes a lead role in determining scope, schedule, budget, and resources needed.
  • Prepares cost and materials estimates for use in client bid proposals.
  • Assists senior peers on complex tests and projects, including planning, budgeting, and testing.
  • Completes multiple projects concurrently.
  • Prepares tests and studies, evaluating performance of parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions.
  • Records results and makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Develops test protocols, models, test technologies, and analyzes data.
  • May assist in the development of technical policies and procedures.
  • Modifies prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
  • Develops knowledge in other areas of specialty/discipline or deepens expertise in one area.
  • Interfaces with clients regarding project status or to collect additional information.
  • Ensures client expectations for projects are met.

Qualifications

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with emphasis in a discipline related to assignments (e.g., mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering).
    • 3 years of related experience.
  • Desired:
    • Programming experience including National Instruments LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB.
    • Proficiency in engineering research and testing concepts, theories, practices, methods, and techniques.
    • Thorough investigative skills.
    • Good customer service orientation.
    • Understanding of quality assurance and control concepts and practices.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
    • Basic team leadership and project management skills.

Pay

PG&E is providing the salary range for this position based on the Bay Area locality. The actual salary will depend on factors such as skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary: $109,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary: $142,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary: $175,000.00
