About the role

The Technical Communicator II assists technicians in the repair process, coordinates with engineers, answers technical requests, and resolves product issues through diagnosis and research.

Responsibilities

  • Aid technicians during repairs to ensure timely and quality service.
  • Work with Caterpillar engineers to resolve product issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve product problems through personal knowledge, research, and engineering data.
  • Recognize and document product issues, and assist in identifying root causes affecting customer satisfaction and operations.
  • Travel to customer sites to assist with complex troubleshooting and ongoing issues.
  • Attend necessary training to stay updated on new products and challenges.
  • Utilize Caterpillar system resources such as SIS web, PSCRM, Dealer.Cat.com, DPSS, SIMS I/CPI to diagnose issues and evaluate solutions.
  • Use professional phone etiquette to handle customer calls.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Moderate computer skills, including web navigation and database familiarity.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking before groups.
  • Problem-solving ability and adaptability to varied situations.
  • Good visual acuity, including close, distance, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, vibration, and noise.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
