Energy Assistance Worker - Luzerne County Assistance Office

This position allows you to support families who need help managing home energy costs. You will help connect customers with vital benefits that keep households safe and stable.
Responsibilities
- Eligibility Determination: Review customer information and apply federal regulations to determine benefit eligibility
- Customer Communication: Contact customers and third parties through interviews, calls, mail or written notices to gather information needed for decisions
- Application Processing: Examine LIHEAP applications for completeness and request verification when needed
- Information Verification: Check, confirm and record data required to complete forms, letters and memos related to benefits
- Crisis Coordination: Work with customers and vendors to respond to emergency energy needs
- System Utilization: Use CIS, eCis, IEVS and PACSES to obtain information required for eligibility decisions
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne County.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Benefits
Seasonal full-time employment. This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs. Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part-time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
Pay
In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
