Energy Assistance Worker - Delaware County Assistance Office
About the role
This position plays an important part in helping individuals meet essential heating needs through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Responsibilities
- : Conduct interviews with applicants to gather information and determine eligibility for energy assistance.
- : Examine mail-in applications and supporting materials for completeness and accuracy.
- : Access computer programs to collect data needed for eligibility decisions.
- : Fill out forms and vendor authorizations, including required calculations.
- : Contact vendors, employers, and others to verify applicant details when needed.
- : Review records and complaints to identify potential underpayments or overpayments.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Other Requirements: Must meet the PA residency requirement.
Benefits
Seasonal full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Seasonal employment typically runs for 6 to 8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Chester or Darby.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Hourly Rate: In some cases, the starting hourly rate may be non-negotiable.
