About the role

The Energetics Operator II - 2nd shift is responsible for supporting energetic production efforts. This role operates one or more production lines or machines, performs in-process inspections, assists with setups and changeovers, trains and mentors Operator I employees, maintains production and quality records, and adheres to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Independently operate one or more production lines or machines, following standard work and work instructions, meeting rate and quality targets.
  • Perform in-process inspections, use basic measuring tools, and document quality results.
  • Absorb and apply complex instructions, batch sheets, and production travelers with accuracy.
  • Assist with setups and changeovers, including tooling, fixtures, and basic parameter adjustments.
  • Train and mentor Operator I employees on safe, effective operation and standard work.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records in logs or ERP/MES.
  • Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping standards; participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in training and cross-training to learn additional operations as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be able and willing to work 2nd shift hours (10:30am - 9:00pm MDT, Monday - Thursday).
  • Working knowledge of hazardous material handling and explosive safety principles.
  • Awareness of quality control procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Competence in operating mechanical or automated production equipment.
  • Strong focus on detail, safety, and reliability in hazardous environments.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with measuring tools (scales, gauges, etc.).
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses, including:
    • Be 21 years of age or older.
    • Pass pre-employment drug test.
    • Pass State and Federal background checks.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and six sigma methodologies.
  • Physical and/or government mandated requirements: ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods in an outdoor industrial environment; work in a high-hazard explosive manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and explosives; wear required PPE, including flame-resistant clothing and other safety equipment, and comply with site-specific requirements such as end-of-day showering; obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses.

Pay

The good faith hourly range for this role is $27.00 – $27.00 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range may be adjusted in the future.

Schedule

This role is onsite based in Penrose, CO and Pueblo, CO. The position reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor and is part of the Manufacturing and Operations team.
