Operator II - 2nd Shift

This campus is also the manufacturing site for Thermo Fisher Scientific's Nalgene® labware and reusable water bottles produced for global distribution. As part of our Laboratory Products Division, you'll join a team providing virtually everything needed for laboratories across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, academia, biotechnology, and industrial research sectors.

About the role

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspection, assembly, and packing of products.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with product lines and all related visual defects to identify rejected parts.
• Visually inspect bottles retrieved from machines, conveyor lines, or bulk containers and make quality decisions on each part.
• Recognize out-of-spec production and advise supervisor or set-up personnel.
• Perform 15-minute inspections of high-volume production.
• Set up work area as a controlled environment where attire consists of hats, gloves, beard masks, and coats.
• Perform housekeeping to maintain a clean environment necessary for media bottle production throughout the shift.
• Maintain necessary paperwork (e.g., 15-minute inspection form, MQC sheet) pertaining to bottle production.
• Work to established QC samples.
• Alert Supervisor/Team Lead or Set-up personnel when problems arise.
• Adhere to all company and departmental work and safety rules.
• Able to operate any machine or operation in the assigned department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting, or related field.
• Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to perform simple math (addition, subtraction of whole numbers).
• Excellent hand/eye coordination and ability to lift and load pallets up to 35 pounds.

Skills

• Ability to work in a high-speed, repetitive production environment.
• Must work well with others in a team environment.

Environmental Conditions

• Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.
• Cleanroom requirements: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair allowed.
• Exposure to loud noises from equipment/machinery.
• Required PPE: safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.

Pay

Compensation: $20.50/hour. This position may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance. Additional shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Annual performance-based bonus and merit increase.
