Endoscopy Technician I

Responsibilities

• Explains procedures and expected sensations to the patient.
• Provides instruction to ensure patient cooperation and to minimize discomfort.
• Provides physical and emotional support to the patient during procedures.
• Affords assistance to physicians with endoscopic procedures.
• Sets up appropriate equipment for procedures and ensures necessary supplies are available.
• Collections, prepares, and delivers specimens.
• Transports patients and supplies as needed.
• Maintains a clean, safe patient care and staff working area.
• Documents according to hospital and unit specific guidelines to accurately reflect care provided immediately after performing procedure or task.
• Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in direct patient care preferred.
• BCLS certification preferred.
