About the role

The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician to be an integral part of the Endocrinology Service at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The incumbent applicant should possess leadership, energy, compassion, and commitment to serve those who serve our Country.

Responsibilities

  • Outpatient and inpatient General Endocrine and Diabetes consults, including Thyroid FNA with ultrasound guidance.
  • Teaching rotating Endocrinology fellows from The Mount Sinai Endocrinology fellowship.
  • Teaching lectures in endocrinology for medical residents.
  • Providing comprehensive endocrine/diabetes care to Veterans.
  • Occasional weekend coverage of inpatient consults.

Requirements

  • Board certification/eligibility in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism.
  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Qualifications

  • Completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Approved residencies or combination of internship and residency training in the United States.
