EMT/Tech - Emergency - Full Time - Nights

Responsibilities

• Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the patient, ensuring understanding and comfort level of treatment.
• Works with all members of the department in a team approach to deliver patient care.
• Takes a systems approach to problem-solving and process improvement, prioritizing patient safety.
• Awareness of patients' needs, reports findings to RNs, Providers, and Paramedics.
• Orients patients to treatment rooms, calls lights, informs patients of their plan of care, duration, and return times.
• Assists Emergency providers, nurses, and paramedics with procedures including application of orthopedic splints, simple laceration procedures.
• Performs direct patient care as assigned by an RN, including vital signs, triage, EKGs, point-of-care testing, wound care, specimen collection, and other duties under licenses.
• Requests and collects necessary supplies and equipment; transports to assigned areas; properly cleans equipment and rooms between patients, stocks necessary supplies and equipment.
• Schedules 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) one week and (2) 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) the next week. Every 4th weekend rotation. Employee self-schedule.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) training program.
• Current valid EMT license required.
• Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal relations with patients, co-workers, physicians, and guests.
• Respectable technical skills to assure patient safety.
• Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions required, acts as a liaison between primary care providers and emergency providers.
