About the role
This is a temporary position for the Texas Renaissance Festival 2026 (September 21st - November 29th). As our EMT, you will perform essential general patient care, meticulously following established clinic workflows to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery within an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive patient intake duties, including obtaining vital signs, verifying allergies and medications, and documenting reasons for visits
- Collect and prepare specimens, administer ordered medications and vaccines, clean and sterilize instruments, ensure exam room readiness, and meticulously complete safety checklists, escalating any non-routine issues promptly
- Personal, crew, patient and bystanders safety: scene size up, emergency scenes are dynamic events; EMT should always look out first for their safety and then the safety of others
- Patient Assessment and delivery of care: provides patient care functions according to protocol, procedure and written directives to level of certification; performs a patient assessment throughout a call on every patient encountered, providing appropriate treatment and transportation decisions
- Maintains and improves skill level and knowledge base: attends/participates in 75% of annual departmental training and completion of annual Skills Competency Fair
- Transport and Transfer of Care: verifies patient identification prior to transport, contacts receiving facility prior to delivery along with providing a patient care report, also providing safe delivery to or from the hospital and aircraft; transfer the patient to the appropriate facility and health care provider giving complete/accurate verbal patient care report; assures geographic knowledge of service area (communities, towns, cities and counties), utilizing appropriate map/GPS reading skills
- Record keeping and data collection: neatly and accurately completes written and electronic Patient Care Reports (ePCR), leaves a copy of the transported patient's report in every facility - ED
- Patient Advocacy: assist patient with special concerns that will need to be brought to hospital personnel's attention (i.e. geriatric patient who may require additional home care)
Requirements
- High School GED or Diploma
- Driver's License: TX, upon hire
- Emergency Medical Technician: TX, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days
Pay
$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
