Full-time EMT positions in Washtenaw County, headquartered in Ann Arbor. HVA provides EMS to all of Washtenaw County and several large-scale special events, including University of Michigan athletics.
About the role
HVA EMTs are skilled, friendly, and professional, delivering high-quality patient care and service to the community. EMTs typically work 10 to 12-hour shifts under hospital-approved medical protocols. Additional special team opportunities include honor guard, tactical EMS, and bicycle response teams.

Responsibilities
- Maintain high clinical standards in all aspects of care.
- Safely drive and operate ambulances.
- Provide basic life support, including CPR, airway management, suction, oxygen application, bleeding control, splinting, and bandaging.
- Provide convalescent care, transporting sick, injured, and convalescent patients to and from medical facilities.
- Proficiently and safely perform patient handling, including stretcher operations, lifting, and loading.
- Treat patients with compassion and respect.
- Interact professionally and courteously with patients, family members, facility staff, and co-workers.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- State of Michigan EMT license.
- CPR and PHTLS or ITLS certified (PHTLS can be provided upon hire).
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Physically capable of meeting job requirements: lifting and moving patients, carrying medical equipment.
- Ability to pass a company-sponsored background check, drug screen, and physical.
- Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with a diverse range of people.
