EMT Basic Full Time/Part Time

About the role

Pafford Emergency Medical Services seeks to provide Basic Life Support services, including medical evaluations, treatments, and stabilizations of critically ill and injured individuals. Responding to emergency rescue situations, the role involves maintaining control, managing, and directing patient care at the scene of pre-hospital emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes and understands medical emergencies and makes reasonable differential diagnoses;
• Performs physical examinations;
• Manages medical and emotional needs of victims of acute illness or injury;
• Maintains effective communication with physicians;
• Transports ill and injured to medical facilities;
• Operates emergency vehicles safely;
• Cleans and maintains equipment;
• Completes patient statistics and medical information forms;
• Assists in technical rescues;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Maintain EMT / EMT-B CPR for the Health Care Provider;
• Good knowledge of street systems, addresses, and physical layout;
• High degree of accuracy in performing technical medical skills;
• Ability to understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs;
• Learn new rescue and medical skills;
• Perform mechanical work with rescue and medical equipment;
• Direct and teach other personnel;
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships;
• Drive and operate emergency ambulance units;
• Author reports with narrative and numeric information.

Qualifications

• Maintain annual certification in emergency medicine;
• Attend continuing education classes, courses, and seminars;
• Capable of operating emergency medical vehicles;
• Capable of moving medical equipment and extracting injured persons;
• Capable of carrying or helping carry someone from the site of injury to transportation;
• Capable of performing physical assessments;
• Wear and maintain company issued uniforms and equipment.
