Qualification Requirements
- Must be at least 23 years old.
- Currently, certified State Emergency Medical Technician by the Mississippi Department of Emergency Medical Services.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a valid EMS driver's license issued by the Emergency Medical Services Division of the State Board of Health.
Physical Demands
- Sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Talk or hear.
- Frequently reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, occasionally crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
- Lift in excess of 100 pounds.
- Regularly exposed to the risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation.
- Exposure to noise levels reaching extreme levels.
Hazards
- High risk job requiring a clear mind, a strong will, a high degree of nerve, and an acceptance of possible risk factors.
- Exposure to corrosive chemicals, poisonous or hazardous materials, blood or other body fluids or secretions.
- Risk of possible bodily injury due to ambulance accidents, accidents at the scene, or from patient's family or bystander assaults.
