EMT - 24 Hour

About the Role

The EMT is responsible for providing emergency patient care in out-of-hospital settings within the scope of certification as defined by NYS DOH.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ambulance is clean, stocked, and ready through inspections and pre-run checks.
• Assess response needs based on dispatch info and weather conditions.
• Evaluate illness or injury severity and administer appropriate BLS care per NYS protocols.
• Assist crew with patient handling, treatment, and transport.
• Request additional assistance or specialty services when necessary.
• Document patient assessments and care verbally and in PCR.
• Secure patient info and follow physician orders during transfers.
• Use proper radio procedures and monitor patients throughout contact.
• Maintain ambulance readiness post-response and collaborate with other agencies.
• Follow department policies, infection control, and uphold professional conduct.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• NYS EMT certification, current CPR card, and valid NYS driver’s license required.
• EVOC or similar certification preferred.
• Competent in reading and writing.
• Experience is preferred but not mandatory.
