EMT - 24 Hour

About the role

The EMT is responsible for providing all aspects of patient care in out-of-hospital settings within the scope of certification as defined by the NYS DOH.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring ambulance cleanliness and completing pre-run checks
• Assessing response needs based on dispatch info and weather conditions
• Evaluating patient conditions and delivering emergency care according to NYS BLS AAREMS Protocols
• Assisting with patient handling, treatment, lifting, and transportation
• Requesting additional assistance or specialty services when necessary
• Documenting patient assessments and care in PCRs
• Providing care during inter-facility transfers per Physician Orders
• Using proper radio procedures and monitoring patients throughout contact
• Maintaining ambulance readiness and integrating with other agencies when needed
• Following department policies, infection control, and maintaining professional conduct

Qualifications

• Preferred but not required: relevant experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Required: NYS EMT certification, current CPR card, valid NYS driver's license; EVOC or equivalent preferred
• Must be competent in reading and writing
