About the role
This position provides proactive assistance and rapid, initial emergency response to a designated highway safety route and/or area under the supervision of the Shift Battalion Chief.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes a dual operational model combining highway patrol services with immediate medical capabilities.
- Active patrolling of a designated high-risk corridor from within an ambulance or remaining in a designated staged area from 0600 to 1800 hours daily.
- Operates on a 48/96 schedule with a mandatory shift change occurring every 48 hours at 1900 hours.
- Identifies employees' pay grade and internal department policies, procedures, clinical practice guidelines, state, and federal laws.
Requirements
- Must be aware of the need for active patrolling of a designated high-risk corridor from within an ambulance or remaining in a designated staged area from 0600 to 1800 hours daily.
- Must be willing to operate on a 48/96 schedule with a mandatory shift change occurring every 48 hours at 1900 hours.
Qualifications
- Level 1: EMT-Basic
- Level 2: Advanced EMT
- Level 3: Paramedic
Skills
- High visibility and rapid intervention skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits
- No advanced EMT or Paramedic incentive pay due to the licensure being required for the position.

The pay for this position is determined by the employee's level (EMT-Basic, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic) and internal department policies.
Schedule
The position operates on a 48/96 schedule, with a mandatory shift change occurring every 48 hours at 1900 hours.
