EMS Assistant Chief
About the role
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) seeks an experienced EMS Assistant Chief to join our dedicated team. This position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which involves a 3% salary reduction in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise emergency medical services operations
- Oversee training and development of emergency medical technicians
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations
Requirements
- Minimum qualifications as outlined in the Assistant Chief classification specifications
- Background investigation and RPP clearance required
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $10,569.00 - $13,674.00 per month, depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not reflect the salary reduction due to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025.
Schedule
This position is full-time and requires regular attendance and availability to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
