About the role
The Senior Manager or Principal Attorney - Global Trade Compliance will support the Global Trade Compliance team. The position focuses on compliance reviews, internal investigations, and regulatory disclosures related to U.S. export and import requirements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct compliance reviews to assess adherence to U.S. export and import regulations.
- Support internal investigations involving potential trade compliance issues.
- Research applicable regulations and analyze compliance matters to develop findings.
- Conduct interviews and prepare written summaries related to investigations.
- Draft voluntary disclosures and correspondence to U.S. Government agencies.
- Provide guidance regarding compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
- Support compliance data calls, reporting requirements, recordkeeping, and file management.
- Participate in working groups and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Aid in the development and implementation of trade compliance processes, procedures, and training.
- Work collaboratively across business units, programs, and functional teams.
- Perform additional compliance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience serving as an Empowered Official within the defense industry.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. export and import laws, including ITAR and EAR.
- Experience conducting or supporting export compliance investigations.
- Experience preparing and managing voluntary disclosures.
- Experience working with OCR EMS export management software.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a highly matrixed team environment.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple assignments.
- Strong judgment and ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and applicable federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of export control experience, including investigations.
- Master’s Degree with at least 6 years of export control experience, including investigations.
- Juris Doctor (JD) with at least 4 years of experience in export compliance investigations.
Preferred Experience
- 4-5+ years of experience as an Empowered Official.
- Demonstrated experience managing voluntary disclosures involving both ITAR and EAR.
- Prior trade compliance experience within the defense or aerospace industry.
