About the role
Easterseals MORC is seeking an Employment Specialist to join their team. This role is open to those who are enthusiastic about making a difference and are passionate about supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
- Provide coaching to team staff to build competencies necessary for effective supported employment services.
- Assess and evaluate vocational needs of adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Develop and implement program plans to meet identified needs for clients.
- Complete referral forms and clinical/legal documentation for obtaining community-based services.
- Maintain records of client contacts for documentation, team presentations, reviews, and meetings.
- Offer vocational case management services for support, rehabilitation, and crisis intervention.
- Monitor and evaluate vocational situations and settings to ensure consistency of treatment and progress.
- Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure clients are meeting their medication and transportation needs, and addressing other basic requirements.
Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field, as per Medicaid Provider Manual Guidelines.
- Experience with job coaching, supported employment, and/or Individual Placement and Support (IPS) with individuals with mental health conditions is preferred.
- Helps others within the agency by fostering a cooperative environment, demonstrating caring and cooperative behaviors, sharing resources, and volunteering to assist colleagues.
- Provides support to team members in building the necessary skills to deliver effective supported employment services.
Qualifications
- Ability to assess and evaluate vocational needs of adult clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of supported employment, job coaching, and Individual Placement and Support (IPS).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information related to clients' cases.
Skills
- Strong understanding of and ability to apply motivational interviewing techniques.
- Experience with person-centered planning and stage of change theory.
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and interventions.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for case management and documentation.
