Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Employment Specialist assists refugees to obtain employment in their new community. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting an initial assessment and creating an employment plan
- Providing pre-employment coaching and job search assistance
- Aiding clients with all aspects of their job search
- Maintaining and expanding employer partnerships

EXAMPLE ACTIVITIES
- Complete employment orientation and employment plan
- Refer to appropriate training programs based on client interests
- Train job seekers on resume creation, job search strategies, and interview preparation
- Provide public transportation orientation and training
- Referral and coordination of additional supports (childcare, transportation, work clothing)
- Assess client skills and complete job applications
- Transport clients to job sites and assist with the screening and interview process
- Follow up with employers after applications or interviews
- Research and identify new industries and employers offering employment opportunities
- Maintain contact with employers through various methods
- Determine ongoing eligibility and program compliance for cash and transportation assistance
- Track payments and disbursements in client databases
- Conduct post-placement follow-up with employers to ensure successful employment outcomes
- Support job retention for employed clients
TRANSPORTATION
- Maintain a valid driver's license and personal auto liability insurance
- Frequent travel with personal vehicle
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
- Associates degree or two years of college preferred
- Candidates with a high school diploma and two years of transferable work/volunteer experience may be considered
Salary
$21.50 - $21.50 per hour
