About the Role

The Employment Services Trainer- Community (ESTC) provides employment skills, digital literacy, and Goodwill Career Pathways Institute (GCPI) support to the Workforce Development unit at Goodwill Central Oklahoma. This role works with job seekers to identify areas of interest, evaluate barriers, and create plans and employment documents to locate job or career tracks. The ESTC may also facilitate Google IT certification, the Grow with Google initiative, and online career pathway courses through other platforms. This position is based in Enid, OK.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Enid Employment Services Center (ESC) hub.
  • Deliver employment skill services to clients within the northern region of Goodwill’s area, including community and partner organizations.
  • Facilitate workshops for community clients, covering topics such as writing cover letters, resumes, conducting online job searches, and basic computer skill development.
  • Facilitate GCPI certificate and employment programs offered under the Oklahoma Board of Private and Vocational Schools (OBPVS), if needed.
  • Help job seekers learn basic digital literacy, complete resumes, cover letters, and apply for jobs in their chosen area or vocation.
  • Provide basic computer operations skills training to teach individuals to perform job searches independently.
  • Promote and instruct Goodwill Career Pathways Institute and certification programs, if needed.
  • Provide case management and educate clients on additional community resources to help overcome barriers; refer to partner agencies for wrap-around support services.
  • Assist with the application process for other agencies' services (e.g., SNAP, Unemployment).
  • Develop and maintain community partner relationships that align with Goodwill’s mission, certificates, programs, and services.
  • Serve vulnerable, high-barrier populations.
  • Maintain data trackers for clients served and report data to supervisors, including weekly and monthly reports.
  • Maintain accurate records, client notes, and data in the Client Records Management system and unit spreadsheets.
  • Make follow-up calls to clients for ongoing support and to verify employment status.
  • Communicate with employer partners about job seekers' employment status and needs to ensure client retention.
  • Schedule and maintain walk-in hours at the ESC hub.
  • Create Career Success Plans with clients to help them reach employment goals.
  • Participate in staff, inter-agency, or other project-coordinating meetings.
  • Stay current on Oklahoma employment trends and employer needs.
  • Attend Goodwill and community career fairs to advocate for job seekers and present training to groups.
  • Serve as a Workforce Development team player, occasionally assisting in other areas.
  • Travel up to 70% of the time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a human services-related field preferred.
  • 1 year of public speaking or teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in job development for individuals with multiple barriers to employment preferred.
  • Data-driven mindset.
  • Ability to multi-task to best serve clients and meet their needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to navigate the internet with ease.
  • Must have an OK driver’s license, valid insurance, and a clean driving record.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
  • Familiarity with local community support and training services.
  • Effective at communicating vocational counseling and helping others shift behaviors toward gaining employment.
  • Ability to provide support services to disabled/disadvantaged persons and assist in the rehabilitation process.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain:
    • CPR and 1st Aid Training
    • CLIFF Benefit Tool Certification

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting or standing for long periods; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, or stooping.
  • Good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Ability to climb or balance, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Medium work involves walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 35 pounds or more with assistance.
  • Required to operate a computer.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a climate-controlled environment most of the time.
  • Travel in a mobile unit 2-4 times per week or train off-site on behalf of the organization.
  • Low to moderate noise level.
  • Works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; occasional additional hours for special events.
  • May work with individuals from disadvantaging conditions, including registered sex offenders, homeless, disabled, children, formerly incarcerated, veterans, and others.
