Employer Engagement Consultant- Cornell Duffield Engineering Office of External Collaboration and Innovation (Hybrid)

About the role

The Employer Engagement (EE) Consultant in the Cornell Duffield College of Engineering’s Office of External Collaboration and Innovation cultivates and manages strategic relationships with employers who recruit Cornell Duffield Engineering students. EE consultants are well versed in the benefits of hiring Cornell University undergraduate, professional, and graduate students and work to further connections among corporate partners and help them build effective recruitment strategies.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with employers seeking to engage with Cornell Duffield Engineering talent at all degree levels.
• Advise employer partners on effective, inclusive recruitment strategies that align with their university recruiting goals.
• Identify and target prospective employers in the engineering and technical sectors, conduct proactive outreach to expand Cornell’s employer base, and deepen employer engagement.
• Utilize the university’s career services CRM to coordinate and track employer interactions, ensuring a data-driven approach to relationship management and recruitment activity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of experience in business development, sales, career services, recruitment/HR or other industry experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, as member of team, under pressure, and in a complex environment.
• Proficient in computer software and web application skills.
• Experience with and enthusiasm for collaborating with various stakeholders in a professional setting.
• Must be able to work occasionally on weekends and evenings.

• Strong leadership in communication, customer experience, and cross-functional team collaboration.

• Committed to inclusive excellence and engaging effectively with college-aged populations.

Skills

• Previous experience in employer relations in a higher education setting.
• Experience as a university recruiter.
• Experience working with employers who hire from STEM fields.
• Understanding of the wide variety of work environments of engineering graduates.
• Experience in identifying employers open to recruiting international students and/or educating employers on the merits of a globally diverse workforce.
• Demonstrated ability to think analytically and to gather and use data to make decisions.
• Experience working with colleagues across units on a highly collaborative team to achieve institutional goals.
• Experience with Salesforce as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
• Experience with a campus recruiting platform, such as Handshake.

Benefits

This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The position will typically allow for the flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week at a location of employee’s choosing within the United States. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.
