Employee Relations Supervisor

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations initiatives that support a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for complex employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary issues.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee conduct, attendance, performance management, corrective action, and policy application.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution efforts and recommend practical solutions that balance employee and business needs.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and prepare investigation summaries, findings, and recommendations.
  • Partner with leadership and legal counsel, when appropriate, to resolve employee relations concerns while minimizing organizational risk.
  • Ensure consistency and confidentiality throughout the investigation process.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, EEOC requirements, and related employment legislation.
  • Support organizational compliance efforts through audits, reporting, and documentation management.
  • Partner with the Director of Employee Development & Safety to enhance leadership capability and strengthen management effectiveness by developing and delivering employee relations, workplace conduct, performance management, and compliance training for supervisors and managers.
  • Coach leaders on difficult employee conversations, organizational change initiatives, and workforce management strategies.
  • Utilize HRIS and reporting tools to maintain accurate records and generate actionable insights.
  • Track, analyze, and report employee relations metrics, including turnover, corrective actions, investigations, grievances, and employee concerns to identify trends and provide recommendations to improve employee experience, manager effectiveness, and organizational outcomes.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and development support to direct reports.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with employee relations responsibility.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or project leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing complex employee relations matters required.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations within manufacturing, construction, industrial equipment, transportation, or related industries preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and performance management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with employees and leaders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
