Position Summary

Under limited supervision, the Employee Relations Consultant administers the employee relations function and serves as a trusted advisor to management (typically Assistant Vice President level and below) on a variety of employee relations matters. This role partners with leaders to ensure compliance with employment laws, mitigate organizational risk, and promote positive employee relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with and provide guidance to management on employee relations matters, including:

    • Conducting workplace investigations
    • Managing disciplinary actions, including involuntary terminations
    • Responding to EEOC charges
    • Providing coaching and conflict resolution support to managers and employees
    • Monitoring employee relations trends and recommending process improvements to HR leadership and department management
  • Provide recommendations regarding current HR policies and procedures to HR Senior Leadership and other HR functional teams

  • Support and reinforce HR initiatives within assigned client groups as directed by the Sr. HR Business Partner or business unit leadership

  • Partner with the Sr. HR Business Partner and HR Director to support enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant employee relations or HR experience

  • HR Generalist experience within a service-related industry preferred

  • PURCHASING PHR or SPHR certification required

  • Strong working knowledge of current federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills

  • Financial Services/Retirement Services experience is preferred
