Employee Relations Consultant
Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the Employee Relations Consultant administers the employee relations function and serves as a trusted advisor to management (typically Assistant Vice President level and below) on a variety of employee relations matters. This role partners with leaders to ensure compliance with employment laws, mitigate organizational risk, and promote positive employee relations.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with and provide guidance to management on employee relations matters, including:
- Conducting workplace investigations
- Managing disciplinary actions, including involuntary terminations
- Responding to EEOC charges
- Providing coaching and conflict resolution support to managers and employees
- Monitoring employee relations trends and recommending process improvements to HR leadership and department management
Provide recommendations regarding current HR policies and procedures to HR Senior Leadership and other HR functional teams
Support and reinforce HR initiatives within assigned client groups as directed by the Sr. HR Business Partner or business unit leadership
Partner with the Sr. HR Business Partner and HR Director to support enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant employee relations or HR experience
HR Generalist experience within a service-related industry preferred
PURCHASING PHR or SPHR certification required
Strong working knowledge of current federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
Financial Services/Retirement Services experience is preferred
