Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, high-risk, and sensitive confidential investigations across North America related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other policy violations
  • Conduct end-to-end investigations, including intake, background research, objective interviews, and debrief meetings
  • Analyze and synthesize evidence to make factual findings, prepare detailed investigative summaries, and present verbal and written debriefs to relevant stakeholders
  • Support misconduct disciplinary processes across North America, ensuring robust practices and strict regional compliance
  • Lead conflict management support, including mediation between involved parties
  • Advise and influence business leaders and HR partners on appropriate actions and recommendations following investigations, balancing legal compliance with business needs
  • Leverage strong analytical skills to identify systemic issues and trends from ER data and metrics, partnering with stakeholders to develop proactive solutions and training programs
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers, HR, and Legal to ensure seamless collaboration throughout ER processes
  • Anticipate the broader impact of investigative findings and recommendations, identify alternate courses of action, and facilitate alignment with key stakeholders
  • Partner with in-house Employment Counsel to navigate legal complexities across ER processes and mitigate organizational risk
  • Design proactive leadership modules on management practices and policy compliance based on emerging ER trends and themes

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in workplace investigations, including harassment, discrimination, and retaliation matters
  • Strong knowledge of North American employment law and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and draw sound conclusions
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Strong mediation and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, empathy, and impartiality
  • Proven ability to identify trends from data and translate insights into actionable programs and initiatives
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority investigations simultaneously
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organization

Skills

  • Significant experience in an Employee Relations, HR, or Employment Law role with a focus on workplace investigations
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex, multi-party investigations in a large, matrixed organization
  • Experience advising senior business leaders and HR partners on ER matters and disciplinary processes
  • Prior experience partnering with Employment Counsel on legally sensitive matters
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver training or leadership development programs related to ER themes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employment Law, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR) preferred
  • Workplace investigation certification (e.g., AWI or equivalent) is a strong asset
