Schedule
- Relief schedule available, can be days, nights, or overnight depending on need.
- Open on holidays.
- Shift differential pay offered for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
- Shift differentials:
- Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50
- Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $3.50
- Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $5.00
About the role
We are looking for experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Emergency department in Scottsdale, AZ. This is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity to utilize your skills and expand your abilities under the guidance of talented professionals.
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Show a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
- Show patience and empathy to address client concerns.
Qualifications
- Experience in emergency veterinary care.
- Proficiency in anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
- Knowledge of digital radiography techniques.
- Understanding of normal vital sign ranges.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and catheter placement.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Passion for emergency care and mentoring others.
