About the role
Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists – North Scottsdale is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their team. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a crucial role in providing care for pets, ranging from outpatient treatments to surgical assistance.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Aid in maximizing productivity and maintaining positive patient flow during hospital functions.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in compliance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians and assistants.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records with support from practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and update medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an emergency/specialty veterinary technician.
- ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply.
- Experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and ability to observe animal behavior and condition.
- Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring (preferred experience with ASA I-III).
- Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred).
- Ability to prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
- Capable of obtaining blood pressure, interpreting basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02, and integrating clinical signs with disease processes.
- Proficient in digital radiography machines and advanced diagnostic equipment.
- Skilled in administering medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian.
- Able to collect and record patients' case histories.
