About the role

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists – North Scottsdale is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their team. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a crucial role in providing care for pets, ranging from outpatient treatments to surgical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Aid in maximizing productivity and maintaining positive patient flow during hospital functions.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in compliance with state regulations for credentialed veterinary technicians and assistants.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records with support from practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and update medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an emergency/specialty veterinary technician.
  • ECC/CVT/LVT/RVT encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, and ability to observe animal behavior and condition.
  • Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring (preferred experience with ASA I-III).
  • Familiarity with the use of ventilators (preferred).
  • Ability to prepare animals and instruments for surgery.
  • Capable of obtaining blood pressure, interpreting basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02, and integrating clinical signs with disease processes.
  • Proficient in digital radiography machines and advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Skilled in administering medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian.
  • Able to collect and record patients' case histories.
