Veterinary Technician - Relief
About the role
BluePearl Emergency Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our relief team. We are a busy practice searching for individuals who are wanting to fill-in when their schedules allow. We are looking for up-beat individuals with the ability to multi-task and advance their skills!

Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
- Properly calculate medical math, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
- Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
- Mentor and train other co-workers
- Address client concerns with patience and empathy
