Job Summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in their busy Emergency and Critical Care department at their Lee's Summit, MO location. Up to $3,000K sign-on bonus offered.

About the Role

As a Veterinary Technician, you will utilize your skills in a fast-paced environment, growing and expanding your abilities alongside some of the most talented veterinary professionals. You will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, triage emergency cases, perform digital radiography, and manage various medical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients
  • Use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
  • Triage emergency cases, obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
  • Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning
  • Have a complete understanding of normal patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to any changes or issues
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
  • Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
  • Mentor and train other co-workers
  • Address client concerns with patience and empathy

Requirements

  • Experience in a veterinary setting
  • Proficiency in anesthesia and monitoring equipment
  • Knowledge of digital radiography techniques
  • Understanding of normal patient vital signs
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and catheter placement
  • Patience and empathy for clients

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Veterinary Technician
  • Experience with anesthesia and monitoring
