About the role

At VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center we provide top-tier emergency and critical care services for pets in need. Our facility is equipped with the latest technology, and our team is comprised of compassionate professionals who are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. We are currently seeking a dedicated Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians and technicians during emergency surgeries, trauma care, and critical treatments.
  • Provide compassionate and attentive care to emergency patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing comfort.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing them with updates and information about their pet's condition and care instructions.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring that all emergency equipment is properly maintained and that supplies are well-stocked and ready for use.
  • Work closely with our emergency veterinary team to ensure the highest standard of care and a seamless operation during emergencies.

Requirements

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • A strong background in veterinary assisting or related field.
  • Experience in emergency and critical care settings.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Veterinary Assistant (VAA) or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent.

Skills

Desired skills and abilities include:

  • Proficiency in using emergency medical equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
  • Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.

Pay

Schedule

Part-time, every other weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday).
