Emergency Veterinary Assistant

About the role

VCA Animal Emergency Hospital Southeast Calder Road is seeking an Overnight Shift Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Full-time) to join their dynamic emergency and critical care hospital. The ideal candidate will be a full-time, night shift worker based at 1108 Gulf Fwy S Suite 280, League City, TX 77573.

Responsibilities

• Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
• Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
• Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law).
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Providing compassionate care for hospitalized animals.
• Maintaining medical records.
• Aiding the technician and doctor teams as needed.
• Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Assistant is required.
• Emergency experience is preferred.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current license to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.

Skills

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in computer software and medical record systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
