Emergency Veterinarian - Ethos ER Immerse Mentorship Program
About the role
Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at AVES.
Program Duration
The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. The program begins in June 2027 with an optional rolling start date.
Highest Highlights
- Dedicated mentorship from day one — You’ll always be scheduled with a mentor during your early shifts to provide hands-on support and real-time feedback.
- As you gain confidence, you’ll gradually begin taking on more independence — but you’re never truly solo. Our ER schedule is designed with intentional overlap, so whether you're on swing or overnight, there's always another ER doctor on shift with you.
- No on-call. Ever. Because your time off should be your time.
- Certainty in your education — Learn at your own pace with VetBloom’s top-tier asynchronous modules, and reinforce your knowledge with weekly live virtual didactic rounds led by experienced emergency clinicians and educators.
- Specialty service rotations — ERi doctors rotate through our specialty departments to build strong relationships with specialists, gain comfort with consultations, and learn how to set clear client expectations during ER-to-specialty transfers.
- Monthly live CE events — Led by board-certified specialists and certified technicians, these sessions provide a platform for our entire team to grow and learn together. We encourage our techs to present on topics they’re passionate about to build confidence and strengthen collaboration.
- A robust Education Department — While focused on developing our technical staff, this department plays a key role in elevating patient care across the hospital. Clinicians benefit from working alongside highly skilled, educated technicians — helping us deliver top-tier medicine every shift.
- Unmatched specialty support — AVES is proud to have the most specialists under one roof in Austin, including the only anesthesiologist and the soon-to-be only radiologist in the city. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with leading experts across a wide range of disciplines, making collaboration easy and learning inevitable.
