Emergency Tech-Sharp Tri-City Medical Center-Night Shift-Full-Time

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU and is available only to existing members of the ratified STC SEIU Bargaining Unit.

Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shift)
• AWS Hours Requirement: 12/36
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• On-Call Required: No

Pay

Hourly Pay Range: $25.00 – $32.67

Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) assists the registered nurse, physician assistant, or physician with simple procedures and provides care for infant (0–1 year), pediatric (1–13 years), and adult (14 years and older) populations under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

• Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit-based safety and infection control requirements.
• Assists RNs, PAs, or physicians with simple procedures and patient care.
• Provides or assists with splinting, casting, and immobilizing of patient extremities.
• Assists with transporting patients to and from the ED as needed.
• Completes daily unit equipment checks and logs to meet JCAHO/DHS requirements.
• Assists with inventory, stocking, and ordering of supplies and equipment (voluntary).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED)
• One of the following upon hire (effective 2/4/2020):
  • Current San Diego County EMT certificate, or
  • Current Paramedic certificate
• NVCI certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer
• Maintain an annual minimum of 10 CEUs related to work from TCMC or another source (applies only to employees with CNA certifications hired or transferred prior to 2/4/2020)

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience working in an emergency department

Skills

• Effective oral and written communication in English
• Computer skills preferred
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job (light to heavy lifting and/or pushing of patients or equipment)
