Emergency Room Nurse PRN

About the Role

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the Emergency Room. This role adheres to the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other care team members, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while modeling the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s).
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate and proactively resolve patient needs.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, patient status, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
• Prepare patients and families for future self-management.

Requirements

• 1+ year of ER experience required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date).
