Emergency Room Nurse PRN
About the Role
The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the Emergency Room department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers while modeling a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s).
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and anticipating patient needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology for complete understanding.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
- Prepare patients and families for future self-management.
Requirements
- 1+ years of ER RN experience required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
Qualifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
