About the role

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) position is available on a per diem basis at our client's site in Lancaster, PA. The schedule includes Monday-Thursday from 6:30 AM to 7 PM, Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency medical and trauma care to patients in various settings.
  • Perform triage and provide urgent care to patients.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in line with established protocols.
  • Efficiently and accurately deliver one-on-one patient care while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Treat patients with quality clinical care and provide a welcoming and respectful experience.
  • May perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing.
  • Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures.
  • Assist clients with case management of injuries and follow-up care.
  • Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician.
  • Administer prescribed first-aid treatment, including application of splints, administration of oxygen, intravenous injections, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or artificial resuscitation.
  • Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facilities.
  • Maintain supplies, clean equipment, and ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices.
  • Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is malfunctioning, supplies are needed, or the facility is not operating as expected.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
  • Attend client safety team meetings or huddles as required.
  • Aid clients with wellness activities.
  • Communicate effectively and convey information to supervisors, peers, and customers.
  • Use judgement and perform critical thinking.
  • Use intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry into various systems/applications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Major from an accredited college or university.
  • Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced EMT certification.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection certifications (optional).
  • OSHA safety certifications or experience (optional).
  • ARC/CPR Instructor certification (optional).
  • Must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations.
  • 3 years of 911 experience required.
  • Fire Fighter experience a plus.
