Position Summary
About the role
Concentra is seeking a PRN (as-needed) EMT to support onsite construction clinics in Houston, TX. The EMT will provide emergency medical and trauma care to patients in various settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical and trauma care to patients in various settings.
- Perform triage and provide urgent care to patients.
- Deliver high-quality patient care in line with established protocols.
- May perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing - training provided.
- Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing.
- Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures.
- Assist clients with case management of injuries and follow-up care.
- Dispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician and in accordance with state regulations and standing orders.
- Administer prescribed first-aid treatment potentially performing such activities as application of splints, administration of oxygen or intravenous injections, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or administration of artificial resuscitation.
- Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of patients at treatment facility.
- Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the center.
- Maintain supplies, clean equipment and onsite clinic.
- Notify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expected.
- Keep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visit.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
- Attend client safety team meetings or huddles as required.
- Aid clients with wellness activities.
- Avoid distractions and keep the facility neat, clean, and orderly.
- Follow all applicable training including clinical competency training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced EMT.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, and Hair and Oral Fluids Collection certifications a plus.
- OSHA safety certifications or experience a plus.
- ARC/CPR Instructor a plus.
- Must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Customarily has at least 3 years 911 experience required.
- Fire Fighter experience a plus.
