Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
This position is based in Sullivan County - Mobilemedic EMS, providing both emergency and non-emergency transport of patients. EMTs will collaborate with direct supervisors, municipal and county fire and police departments, medical staff, patients, and family members to deliver high-level patient care and customer service. At the direction of the Operations Department, the EMT performs or assists with a variety of patient care activities in both pre-hospital and hospital settings.
Responsibilities
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care within the scope of established treatment protocols and the current standard of care.
- Provides accurate and pertinent written documentation of all patient care and EMS responses.
- Completes all required Empress and NYS paperwork.
- Maintains all patient care equipment, vehicles, supplies, daily logs, and patient care records as directed by the company.
- Operates Empress vehicles and equipment as required, according to company policy.
- Maintains a safe and orderly work environment and promotes safe work practices for all employees.
- Reports to work on time and understands that due to the nature of EMS, the assigned shift may exceed the scheduled end time. Mandatory overtime may be assigned.
- Works a variety of shifts; may be required to work any available shift as part of normal duties.
- Follows all Empress policies and procedures.
- Attends mandatory continuing medical education, updates, and staff meetings as required by Empress.
- Complies with established guidelines for uniform dress and standard equipment regulations.
- Assists in providing public information and educational programs to promote EMTs and the services offered by Empress to the community and allied EMS agencies.
Requirements
- Current New York State Certification (EMT-B) and current CPR Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License with a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Satisfactory completion of all aspects of the pre-employment process, including drug screening, background check, and physical agility test (CPAT).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
Work Environment
Works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions, blood/body fluids, respirator use, fumes/odors, extended days, and temperature changes. Frequently works with others, face-to-face, with exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment. Performs shift work and duties frequently in a mobile environment and confined areas.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Required to sit; climb or balance; step, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must frequently lift and/or carry a maximum of 150 pounds unassisted and up to 300 pounds as part of a two-person crew.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Pay
Hourly wage: $21.00
Schedule
Hiring for part-time, full-time, night shifts, and weekends.
