About the role
The Emergency Department is a 14-bed unit that serves as the first point of contact for patients requiring immediate or emergency medical attention and care. The department handles a variety of patients, including those who are critically ill or present with signs of physiological instability. Staff members respond and support emergencies such as cardiac arrest, stroke, respiratory failure, or patient instability for the inpatient units.
Responsibilities
- Assists the healthcare team in organizing and implementing basic department activities such as stocking, results retrieval, and patient tracking.
- Under the guidance of the physician/advanced practice practitioner, performs patient care tasks including vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, phlebotomy, and other simple procedures.
Requirements
- EMT or CNA training required.
- Current EMT-Basic license or CNA certification required.
- Current BLS Certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
- One year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of the Emergency Department Technician role.
