About the role

M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician at their facility in Edina, MN. This position works 60 hours per two weeks on the Day shift, rotating every third weekend, and is eligible for benefits including medical, dental, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the professional nurse in delivering patient care
  • Transport patients and/or equipment
  • Set up and maintain patient rooms
  • Reorder and stock supplies
  • Perform patient care duties under the delegation of an RN, including:
    • 12 lead EKG’s
    • Orthopedic applications
    • Sterile procedures
    • Wound dressing and irrigation

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide for patient safety by following safety procedures and applying infection control techniques
  • Promptly respond to call lights and requests
  • Document patient care activities and procedures on the nursing record
  • Aid in resuscitation with appropriate CPR and bag/valve mask
  • Maintain patient rooms by restocking supplies and carts, and assisting with room clean-up between patients
  • Perform quality control checks on designated equipment
  • Perform other tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment
  • Current EMT, ERT, or Paramedic certification upon hire (does not need to be maintained)
  • Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire (does not need to be maintained)
  • Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program
  • LPN licensure upon hire (does not need to be maintained)
  • Previous Emergency Room experience of 1 or more year as an Emergency Room Scribe, paramedic, ERT, EMT, EDT, or ED EMSCurrent CNA or NST experience of 1 or more year preferred

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
  • Six months of recent direct patient care experience in an acute care, long term care, or home care setting (appropriate roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, or Resident Assistant)

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer, is what will be honored.
