About the role

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse. De-escalation and physical intervention training required within 15 days of hire. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center’s Emergency Department is a 37-bed facility that sees a wide range of acute and emergent diagnoses. Recently designated as a Level III Trauma Center, the department handles a multitude of traumatic injuries requiring emergent stabilization. Also a certified Primary Stroke Center, the hospital has received the Get With the Guidelines Gold Plus Award for Stroke Care—the highest award a hospital can receive. The team cares for patients of all ages, specializing in respiratory, cardiac, septic, and behavioral health cases.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • One of the following at time of hire:
    • EMT-B with state or national certification
    • Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School (qualified MMAC candidates)
    • Current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester
  • Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered
  • Previous clinical experience (preferred)

Pay

36 hours per week, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Night shift)
