Emergency Department Tech
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Emergency Department (ED) Tech to join our team at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center (HRRMC), a cornerstone of our community nestled in the Rocky Mountains. In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical and clinical tasks to ensure smooth patient flow and coordination of activities in the Emergency Department, working directly under the supervision of Registered Nurses and in close collaboration with ED Providers.
Requirements
- Completion of training as a Basic EMT with IV certification.
- Current NEMT and/or Colorado EMT with IV certification.
- Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities
- Effectively prioritize tasks to ensure smooth patient tracking and maintain efficient patient flow.
- Ensure patient records are complete and up-to-date.
- Answer telephone calls and relay messages to patients, nursing staff, medical staff, and other departments courteously and helpfully.
- Provide direct and indirect patient care as assigned, under the supervision of nursing staff and ED Providers.
- Assist RNs and/or ED Providers with technical care such as phlebotomy, IV starts, finger stick blood glucose tests, EKGs, and splinting (tasks performed only upon completion of an IV certification course and competency assessment).
- Assist in the safe transport of stable patients to other care units as needed.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions and promptly refer them for repair.
- Assist with the procurement, organization, and stocking of supplies within the department.
- Respond effectively in emergency or crisis situations, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respirations) and apply cardiac monitors.
