About the role

The Cobb County Department of Public Safety E911 Emergency Communications Center seeks individuals with strong communication and multitasking skills to join our team. Candidates will be assessed during the interview process.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and process emergency and non-emergency calls through the E911 Communications Center
  • Determine the nature of calls and enter information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System
  • Advise supervisors of all priority calls
  • Provide lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations
  • Forward information to the appropriate emergency response units or agencies
  • Utilize computer to enter and retrieve data
  • Identify and update incorrect or outdated information in the CAD system
  • Testify in court if necessary
  • Dispatch the appropriate agency personnel to scenes using radio and CAD systems
  • Maintain awareness of available response units and provide information and instructions to response units
  • Assist in coordinating correct response for multi-unit and multi-jurisdictional calls

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of work experience showing ability to maintain steady employment in any field
  • Age 18 at time of hire
  • Must pass the pre-employment skills assessment
  • Must obtain and maintain GCIC and NCIC Terminal Operator, Basic Communications Officer, TDD/TTY, and CPR certifications
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort, including some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds)
  • Ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals
  • Ability to communicate orally
