Email Developer - Maropost / ESP Migration

Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, migrate, and optimize email communications within a new marketing automation environment.
  • Build and deploy approximately 100 transactional and lifecycle marketing emails, including order updates, account communications, onboarding flows, abandoned carts, subscription messages, and promotional campaigns.
  • Create reusable modular email components, including global headers, footers, and templates aligned with established design systems.
  • Develop Liquid-based dynamic templates with advanced conditional logic for customer segments, subscriptions, affiliate programs, and lifecycle events.
  • Configure multi-country and multi-language email experiences with localization requirements.
  • Audit existing email workflows and support migration from legacy ESP systems to the new platform.
  • Integrate ecommerce triggers between Shopify and the email platform to support automated customer journeys.
  • Cook up accurate production-ready email templates from Figma designs.
  • Coordinate with subscription management tools to ensure accurate event-driven communications.
  • Perform quality assurance testing across business logic variations, localization scenarios, email clients, devices, and rendering environments.
  • Translate design files into pixel-accurate, production-ready email templates.
  • Document templates, components, and automation logic to enable future maintenance and scalability.

Requirements

  • Experienced email developer with strong expertise in ESP platforms, responsive email development, automation logic, and ecommerce integrations.
  • Direct experience with Maropost is strongly preferred; experience with platforms such as Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, Customer.io, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar tools is also valuable.
  • Previous experience supporting an ESP migration, ideally involving Mandrill or a comparable platform.
  • Strong knowledge of Liquid templating or similar email personalization languages.
  • Expert-level HTML and CSS skills for email development, including tables, inline styles, responsive techniques, Outlook compatibility, MSO conditional comments, and dark mode handling.
  • Experience integrating email platforms with Shopify or other ecommerce systems through event-based workflows.
  • Ability to convert Figma designs into accurate production email templates.
  • Strong understanding of email logic, segmentation, personalization, edge cases, and localization requirements.
  • Familiarity with email testing and QA tools such as Litmus, Email on Acid, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of email deliverability principles, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation, and suppression management, is a plus.
  • Experience with subscription or recurring purchase email flows is preferred.
