About the Role

Under the direction of the Child Care Supervisor, plan, organize, implement, and supervise an on-site full-day, year-round child care program for school-age children. Responsible for curriculum planning and program administration, staff supervision and development, and fiscal responsibilities related to the site budget.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day (9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
  • 5 days per week
  • 10.75 months per year

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, implement, and supervise a full-day, year-round child care program
  • Curriculum planning and program administration
  • Staff supervision and development
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities related to the site budget

Requirements

  • Two years of progressive experience, with one year supervising a full-day preschool or school-age child care site
  • Pass the required mathematics, reading, and writing proficiency examination; or have two years of college (48 units) or an A.A. degree (or higher); or have passed the CBEST
  • 24 Early Childhood Education units from an accredited college, or Child Development permit (preferred)
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Macintosh applications
  • Knowledge of child development principles for preschool and elementary school-age children
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, laws, and policies governing child care programs
  • Familiarity with Recreation & Community Services Department programs and Child Care Division policies and procedures

Qualifications

Must attach proof of one of the following prior to the job posting closing date:

  • Passing the CBEST, or
  • Having completed two years of college (48 units), or
  • An AA degree or higher, or
  • Having passed the District proficiency exam in mathematics, reading, and writing

Pay

  • Monthly salary range: $5,300.46 – $7,027.24
  • Range 35 (max salary includes longevity bonus after completing 15 years of acceptable experience in education)
  • Beginning salary placement is at the discretion of the Director of Human Resources
  • Must provide previous experience
