Eligibility Operations Worker - Imperial

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping people access critical services, possess excellent customer service skills, and have an attention to detail.
About the role
We are seeking Eligibility Operations Workers to assist with determining eligibility for various assistance programs in our Economic Assistance or Medicaid teams. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring Nebraskans have access to essential services such as food, financial assistance, supportive services, or medical care.
Responsibilities
- Participate in 6-8 weeks of paid training to prepare for eligibility determination tasks.
- Review and verify applications for assistance, including financial and demographic information via electronic, phone, or in-person exchanges.
- Use call center software and phones, including automated call distribution and voice response systems, in addition to other job duties.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 24 semester hours of post-high school education in behavioral sciences, public/business administration, social sciences, education, or closely related fields, or equivalent experience in customer service, eligibility determination for public assistance, financial loan applications, medical or unemployment insurance claims, unemployment services, or a combination of education and experience in these areas.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in human services, case management, or eligibility determination for financial assistance programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Customer service principles and interviewing practices.
- Sociological conditions influencing human behavior.
- Microsoft Office software proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to show empathy and respect to those served.
- Independent work ethic, meeting deadlines, confidentiality, interpreting and applying program regulations and policies, exercising critical thinking, independent judgment, and decisiveness in determining eligibility.
- Positive working relationships and effective communication skills.
