Elementary School Counselor
About the role
Sacopee Valley Schools educate students in grades Pre-K – 12 with just under 1,000 students. Located in Hiram, Maine, the school is nestled between the Saco and Ossipee Rivers and is within a 30-minute drive from North Conway, NH and 45 minutes from Portland. Recreational activities such as skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and antiquing are easily accessible.
Cornish, less than five minutes away, is known as the Crown of York County and has been voted one of the best places to live in Maine. It also boasts several highly-rated restaurants.
Responsibilities
- Build positive relationships with students and families to support their social-emotional, behavioral, and academic development.
- Deliver whole-class social-emotional learning, small group interventions, and individualized student support.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with administration, staff, students, and parents to support student success.
- Promote a safe and positive school climate.
Requirements
- Experience building positive relationships with students and families.
- Experience delivering whole-class social-emotional learning, small group interventions, and individualized student support.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with administration, staff, students, and parents.
- Experience promoting a safe and positive school climate.
- Current Maine School Counselor Certification (075).
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling or related field.
- Valid Maine School Counselor Certification (075).

- Knowledge of social-emotional learning strategies.
